Winners to be formally recognized in Baton Rouge on May 14

NEW ORLEANS – From general contracting to pizzerias, to consulting firms and outdoor power equipment sales - these are just a few of the businesses that will be recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Louisiana District Office this year in Baton Rouge on May 14 during National Small Business Week. 
Each year since 1963, the president has issued a proclamation calling for the celebration of National Small Business Week. SBA recognizes outstanding small business owners for their personal successes and contributions to our nation.  This year’s winners represent a wide range of industries and come from areas across Louisiana.  “We’d like to congratulate all of the winners and runners-up and their families for this accomplishment.  Small businesses are and crucial to continued economic growth in Louisiana,” said Michael Ricks, District Director for SBA Louisiana.  With over 30 nominees from all corners of the state, the selection process was very competitive.
The winners of the 2014 Louisiana Small Business Awards are as follows:
Small Business Person of the Year:  Keith DuRousseau, President & CEO of Keiland Construction, LLC in Lake Charles
Runners-up to Small Business Person of the Year (3):  Alvin Childs, Jr. & David Alexander, Founders & Partners of Vintage Realty Company in Shreveport and Alejandro Hernandez, President of Hernandez Consulting, LLC in New Orleans
Small Business Development Center Service Excellence and Innovation Center Award:  Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southern University and A&M College
Exporter of the Year:  Patrick Gililland, President of SPF Depot in Bossier City
Runner-up to Exporter of the Year:  George M. Schaffer, President of Crompion International in Baton Rouge
Financial Services Champion:  Clayton J. White, Managing Member of Simmons & White, LLC of New Orleans
Family-Owned Business Champion: Robert Neal Smith, President of Smith’s South-Central Sales Company, LLC in Springhill
Runner-up to Family-Owned Business Champion: Mitch Rotolo, Founder & CEO of Rotolo’s Pizzeria based in Baton Rouge
Minority Business Champion:  Tiya Scroggins, President & CEO of Scroggins Consulting, LLC in Shreveport
