EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA– The U.S. Small Business Administration is teaming up with local resource partners to offer a one-day entrepreneurial training class to all veterans looking to start or grow a business at the Carlisle Expo Center on March 30, 2016. The workshop covers various topics including business plan writing, setting up a legal structure, and finding funding.

"The SBA is excited ‎to support our veterans with an outstanding program that provides valuable insight and tools for veterans interested in owning their own businesses," Antonio (Tony) Leta, Director, SBA Eastern Pennsylvania District.

“Boots to Business: Reboot” is a one-day training program providing participants an overview of business ownership as a career vocation, an outline and knowledge of the components of a business plan, a practical exercise in opportunity recognition, and an introduction to available public and private resources. Veterans and service members of all eras (including National Guard and Reserves) and their spouses are eligible. This course is taught by SBA and its partners who are skilled business advisors.

“Our armed forces have a track record of producing outstanding leaders and we have a special obligation to serve those veterans who have served us so well. One way to do that is through this high-speed curriculum for veterans or their spouses who are interested in exploring business ownership and self-employment opportunities,” said Shannon Degiglio, SBA Eastern Pennsylvania District Veterans Business Development Officer. “Veterans and their spouses who are interested in starting a small business should sign up for the class immediately.”

Following the one-day training, participants will be eligible to participate in an online eight-week follow-on Foundations of Entrepreneurship course instructed by a consortium of professors and practitioners led by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University. Upon completion Boots to Business: Reboot, participants will have the tools and knowledge needed to launch their own businesses.
