MIAMI - U.S. Small Business South Florida District Director Francisco "Pancho" Marrero is pleased to announce the winners of SBA's 2015 State of Florida and South Florida District Small Business Week Awards.

"The nominations for this year’s competition prove once again, the level of professionalism and success is a trademark of our south Florida small business community," said Marrero. "Not only should the winners be congratulated but every business nominated and considered should be recognized for their accomplishments. Selecting this year's winners was no easy task."

The 2015 SBA South Florida District and State of Florida Small Business Person of the Year is Carol Craig, the President of Craig Technologies, located in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

SBA South Florida and State of Florida Small Business Woman-Owned Person of the Year is Tina Zambrana.  Zambrana is the President of Pet Stop Clinic located in Miami, Fla.

SBA South Florida District and State of Florida Small Business Veteran Owned Business of the Year is Charles Jenkins.  Jenkins is President of CWU Inc., located in Clearwater, Fla.

SBA State of Florida Minority Owned Small Business Person of the Year is Printella Bankhead. Bankhead is President of EBS Security, Inc., located in Jacksonville, Florida.

SBA State of Florida Small Business Advocate of the Year is Mike Field. Field is a Senior Analyst with JP Morgan Chase, located in Jacksonville, Florida.

SBA State of Florida Small Business Financial Advocate of the Year is David Marovich. Marovich is the Vice President of Business for 121 Financial Credit Union, located in Jacksonville, Florida.

SBA South Florida and State of Florida Small Business Media Advocate of the Year is Pete de la Torre.  De la Torre is the host of the Pete de la Torre Business Hour that airs in Miami, Fla.

Additionally, winners of the SBA South Florida District Small Business Person of the Year Awards are:

SBA South Florida District Small Business Exporter of the Year is Luis Tome.  Tome is the President of IMEX Paper in Miami, Fla.

SBA South Florida District Small Business Advocate of the Year is Sharon Geltner. Geltner is a Small Business Development Analyst with the Small Business Development Center at Palm Beach State College in Boca Raton, Fla.

National Small Business Week to be held May 4-8, 2015.  It was announced Mar. 16, the city of Miami will be the “Kick Off” city for the week long celebration followed by Los Angeles, San Antonio, New York City and culminating in Washington, D.C. where national winners will be recognized and awarded.  This year’s theme is, “SBA: Dream Big, Start Small.”

Every year since 1963 SBA takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from across the nation through National Small Business Week.
