SBA’s Michigan District Director Celebrates National Small Business Week in Detroit, Flint, and Lansing

DETROIT – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Michigan District office will celebrate National Small Business Week with events in Detroit, Flint, and Lansing.  The events are intended to recognize several of the district’s awardees during the week that the nation recognizes the impact that small businesses have on the American economy.  The local events lead to the state-wide Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards to be presented on May 4, 2017 at The Lansing Center in Lansing.

As part of National Small Business Week, the SBA has been recognizing the special impact made by outstanding American entrepreneurs and small business owners since 1963. “During this week, we honor and celebrate the small business owners and our resource partners who are driving our economy forward,” said Constance Logan, SBA Michigan District Director.

The following events and interview opportunities will be held throughout the week.

  • May 1 at 1:00 p.m. in Detroit – SBA District Director Constance Logan will present the SBA Michigan Women Owned Small Business of the Year award to Monica Starks, President, and C. Denise Griffith, CEO, of the GS Group, LLC at 17800 Woodward Avenue, Suite 200.  Constance Logan, Starks, and Griffith are available for interviews.
  • May 2 at Noon in Flint – SBA District Director Constance Logan will participate in the grand opening of the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council’s Women’s Business Center at the Oakwood Business Center, 2712 Saginaw Street.  Women’s Business Center Program Manager Debra Loeser will receive the SBA Region V Women’s Business Center of Excellence Award.  Constance Logan and Deb Loeser are available for interviews.
  • May 3 at 11:00 a.m. in Flint – SBA District Director Constance Logan will present the SBA National Veterans Outreach Center Award to VetBizCentral at the Mott Foundation Building, 503 S. Saginaw, 1st floor conference room.  Constance Logan and Matt Sherwood are available for interviews.
