U.S. Small Business Administration Celebrates National Veteran Small Business Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s West Virginia District Office (SBA) hosts a free West Virginia Veteran Small Business Day in Morgantown Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in celebration of National Veterans Small Business Week.

This event includes contacts, resources and professionals available to provide small business owners with the tools they need for maneuvering the business world and provide a foundation for doing business with the federal government. Resources include: WVU Office of Veteran and Military Programs, West Virginia Small Business Development Center, First Microloan of West Virginia, FORGE Business Solutions, and Regional Contracting Assistance Center.

A panel of veteran-owned small business owners is on hand to share their entrepreneurial experience, including: Bradley DeRoos with 4D TechSolutions, Patricia Haley with PWG Inc., Jeremy Harris with IT Mindshare Security Solutions, and Tony Alonso with the Alonso Group. The event closes with a Q&A and networking session.

“Government contracts offer a tremendous financial opportunity for veteran-owned small businesses, but it can be difficult to get started,” said Karen Friel, SBA West Virginia district director who will provide opening remarks at the event. “That is why events like this are so important, by giving you the opportunity to meet those who can help you navigate through the complexities of government contracting and learn about ways to best position your business in the federal marketplace.”

This is a free event however pre-registration is required by 12:00 p.m., October 28. No walk-ins will be accepted. At this event, we are required to adhere to the federal regulations that govern access to the NETL site by individuals who may be foreign nationals, permanent residents, immigrants or refugees. Only U.S. citizens with valid REAL I.D. photo identification may attend. All SBA programs and services are extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis.
