The U.S. Small Business Administration Seeks Nominations for its 2020 National and Delaware Small Business Awards

WILMINGTON, DEL. –The SBA’s Delaware District Office seeks nominations for its annual Small Business Awards, honoring Delaware small business, as well as business owners and assistance organizations. The winners of two of the SBA Delaware awards program’s award categories – Small Business Person of the Year and Exporter of the Year SBA Small Business Person of the Year – will compete with state-level award winners from all fifty states for national SBA award titles. Nominees for SBA Delaware’s cornerstone small business award category – the Small Business Person of the Year – will also be considered for these award categories:

  • Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year;
  • Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year;
  • Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year;
  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year;
  • Family-Owned Small Business of the Year


To nominate candidates for these awards, complete the appropriate nomination form, found at:  Click on ‘Nomination Forms’ on the middle tool bar and then choose the nomination form appropriate for each category (note: while nominations for national award categories – ‘Small Business Person of the Year’ and Exporter of the Year’ should be made using those award categories’ specific nomination form, all nominations for ‘Delaware Awards’ should be made using the online ‘Small Business Person of the Year’ nomination form).  Every nomination must be accompanied by a completed SBA Background Form 3300.  Self nominations are welcome.


Nominations for these awards must be mailed or hand-delivered to the SBA Delaware District Office – 1105 N. Market Street, Lobby Level, Wilmington, Del. 19801 – no later than 3:00 p.m. on January 7­­, 2020.



 Businesses are eligible to be nominated for the 2020 SBA Small Business Awards if they meet the following criteria:


Delaware’s Small Business Awards is a local observance of the Presidentially-designated National Small Business Week. National Small Business Week is celebrated annually in recognition of the small business community’s contribution to the American economy honoring a variety of outstanding small business owners from around the country and culminates with the announcement of the National Small Business Person of the Year.
