J. Adalberto Quijada is the Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Santa Ana District Office, located in the center of a vital economic region in California, with a service territory larger than ten states.  Last year, his office logged a record year of more than $1.3 billion in SBA loans to small businesses, which represented the #2 performing office in the nation.

As District Director, Mr. Quijada is responsible for the delivery of SBA programs and services to entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout the region.  He is also responsible for the management and oversight of SBA Resource Partners including Women’s Business Centers, SCORE chapters and a Regional Lead Center with a network of Small Business Development Centers.

Mr. Quijada has served around the country as a passionate advocate of small businesses.  Previous assignments include serving as the acting Director of the New York District Office, as well as Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, and San Antonio.  Before coming to SBA, he led the marketing department of the U.S. Postal Service in Los Angeles and held an executive position as a member of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs promoting programs related to NAFTA and other programs of bilateral interest.

Mr. Quijada is well known for his ability to connect people and resources together to create action that has a real impact throughout the communities in which he serves.  He is frequently called upon by the media, elected officials and the business community to offer his insight on topics such as job creation, small business, and leadership.

Mr. Quijada is a member of the federal government’s Senior Executive Service.  He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University, respectively.
