How Your Small Business Can Spread the Love to Your Community

Valentine’s Day is upon us, and we know that businesses large and small incorporate this holiday of love into sales and marketing efforts with the hope that customers will spread a little more love their way. But another great way to acknowledge this amorous day is to spread a little love yourself – back to the community that supports your business. Read on for insight about making the most of your volunteer efforts.

Giving back through volunteering is a great way to show the value you place on your community – and your business can benefit as well. Alyssa Gregory, an entrepreneur and small business expert, points out a few potential returns when you lend a hand to others:

  • Networking: Getting out into your community gives you the chance to develop new relationships and strengthen existing ones.
  • Marketing: Representing your business is a surefire way to send a message about what you’re all about. You have the opportunity to make a positive, memorable impression that will stay with people.
  • Skill development: If you’re volunteering services that are a regular part of your offerings, you may have a unique opportunity to strengthen them in a different context. If you’re giving your time for a different activity, it’s a chance to learn something new and potentially translate those lessons into your business practices.

So, how can you make the most of your efforts to spread the love this Valentine’s Day – and beyond?

  • Find a cause that speaks to your passion! We all want to spend time doing what we love. And as a small business owner, you may not think you have much time to spare – that’s why you should find something that complements your existing business efforts or draws on a passion for you and your team. This could be within the kind of a enjoyable fair or even a Q-A with a well-known character, a charity event etc organised at their premises sponsored by you. That is also the most effective form of advertisement.
Thank you for such a great blog. As a local business we have donated both time and other resources to helping and giving back to the community through food bank and volunteering. We agree with The Johns Group that one of the best ways to help is to host a food drive. Other ways small businesses can help is to sponsor a local sport team,keep a collection box for charity, and offer a class for your expertise.
It's so important to spread or broadcast our business to social community. My company builds up a Facebook fanpage for marketing our products, we focus on post attractive contents to fanpage as well to be loved by community.
We always go to the community when we need anything, local is where every starts.

A great way for small businesses to help out in the community is to host a food/clothing drive. Most local food banks have kits/ and advice for helping you set up a drive.

A small business really needs to work with his community and he gets a golden chance in volunteering for local charities. This could be in the form of a fun fair or a Q-A with a famous personality, a charity event etc organised at their premises sponsored by you. This is also the best form of advertisement.
