Critical to Review Employee and Contractor policies

Many states had recently passed additional labor laws to crack down on the practice of classifying workers as independent contractors instead of employees. The Department of Labor and the IRS are working closely on this as well and just staffed an additional 100 agents to audit this situation. The IRS is already targetting companies to do full employment tax audits on.
2 pending legislations are expected to pass fairly easily which will turn any infractions into a federal criminal act.
Business owners should plan ahead and make sure that you are in full compliance with the Fair Labor Act.
