Hi All I'm in the process of hopefully starting an online business. All the paperwork I thought i had figured out. Doing it as a sole proprietorship, but then it was recommended that I do LLC but in CA apparently they see you as a sole proprietorship anyways but will tax you as an LLC, meaning a minimum annual $800 tax and a $900 fee, something sole proprietorship doesnt have Its suppose to be a simple based at home based online e-commerce site selling giftware. But at the same time I also am wanting to consider say having one primary business name, so that if I wanted to I could say more than one sub businesses under it, For eXample a primary business name of (names just used for ex and not real) Lexie Smith's Gifts And More would be the primary name, then the sub DBA names would be like Lexie's Gifts and MOre for one and the second something like European Delights. I'm just not sure if that works.... I think I can do both the sub businesses by filing a DBA for each... just not sure if since I would be doing them as DBAs then do they each need their business license or would they fall under the business license of the primary business any suggestions/input very much welcome AlexieNichole
