Audit Report 3-35: Audit of the National Women’s Business Council
On July 28, 2003, the OIG issued Audit Report 3-35, Audit of the National Women’s Business Council. The objective of this audit was to determine whether the National Women’s Business Council’s (NWBC) expenditures and activities were appropriate and complied with laws and regulations. The audit issued several findings, including: (1) Possible Violations of Government Ethics Regulations; (2) the NWBC inappropriately entered into inappropriate agreements; (3) Violation of Federal Travel Regulations and SBA policy; (4) Improper use of NWBC’s Business Assistance Trust Fund; and (5) Other inappropriate activities including the improper authorization of cash awards, use of Government purchase card for unallowable purchases, and engagement in unlawful lobbying activities. The OIG issued five, multi-part recommendations.
