On March 30, 2007, the OIG issued Audit Report 07-19, Audit of Two 8(a) Sole-Source Contracts Awarded to Contractors in SBA’s Mentor Protégé Program. This audit was initiated to determine the validity of a complaint alleging that two contracts were performed by large businesses, in violation of small business procurement laws and regulations, and contrary to the intent of the 8(a) and Mentor Protégé programs. The OIG made five recommendations.
