Duxbury-based Paula White, Owner of 600lb Gorillas, Inc. Named 2012 Massachusetts Small Business Person of the Year
BOSTON – Paula White, founder and CEO of Duxbury-based 600lb Gorillas, Inc. has been named the 2012 Massachusetts Small Business Person of the Year award according to an announcement by Robert Nelson, Massachusetts SBA District Director.
The Small Business Person of the Year award is presented annually to a small business person or persons who exemplify excellence in entrepreneurship. Paula White was judged on seven basic criteria: staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales/and or unit volume, current and past financial reports, innovativeness of product or service, response to adversity, and evidence of contributions to community-oriented projects. White was nominated for this award by South Shore Savings Bank Vice President John Mannion.
“This is the highest honor bestowed by SBA each year in celebration of the outstanding achievements, challenges and contributions of our small businesses,” said Nelson. “There is no individual more deserving of this award than Paula White and this is a prime example of how far commitment, passion and perseverance will get you. Congratulations to Mrs. White and this phenomenal business on winning this prestigious award.”
600lb Gorillas, Inc. was co-founded in 1999 by Paula White and her husband, Chris. 600lb Gorillas develops and sells all natural frozen desserts in supermarkets and club stores across the country. From their kitchen table in Duxbury to Puerto Rico, Hawaii and everywhere in between, Paula and Chris took their ingenuity and passion for premium food and created a thriving business that exploded into success.
Ms. White will be honored at an SBA awards celebration along with the other Massachusetts Small Business Week 2012 winners at an event at Fenway Park on June 6, 2012. ###
