BrightFields is a full-service environmental consulting and remediation services firm headquartered in Wilmington, Del. Formed in 2003, the firm has grown into a 42-person company that solves environmental challenges for its clients and its community. Since being named SBA’s 2008 Del. Small Business Persons of the Year, BrightFields leveraged its strong pre-recession financial position – as well as strategic advice from SBA-backed SCORE on expanding services and the firm’s geographic footprint – to defy the odds and emerge from the Great Recession stronger than ever.
“BrightFields made its name working on some of Del.’s more recent high-profile, history-making projects, including Wilmington Riverfront redevelopment gems: Penn Cinema, Justison Landing, and the new Delaware Humane Association facility, as well as Dover’s Mirror Lake cutting-edge remediation project fronting Legislative Hall,” said Fleming. “And, of course, the Kalmar Nyckel is a reproduction of the tall ship that made history landing in Wilmington, Del. in 1638 to found the first permanent European settlement in the Delaware Valley. Today, BrightFields is working on the Kalmar Nyckel’s new education center and shipyard on Wilmington’s Christina River. What better way than a tour of BrightFields’ Kalmar Nyckel shipyard worksite to bid BrightFields’ ‘bon voyage’ as Ms. Young and Mr. Lannan leave for D.C. to represent Del. for SBA’s National Small Business People of the Year title?”
SBA’s ‘2014 Delaware Family Business of the Year’ award will be presented by Tim Furlong, NBC10 Delaware Bureau Reporter, at SBA’s “Celebrate Success” awards ceremony on May 21 at 4:30 p.m. at DuPont Country Club, 1001 Rockland Road, Wilmington, Del. 19803. The May 21 event is a local observance of the annual National Small Business Week, held this year May 12-16, which recognizes the small business community’s contribution to the American economy and culminates in the announcement of the National Small Business Person of the Year.
