Assistant Inspector General for Investigations

Mark HinesMark Hines serves as the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations (AIGI) for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Office of Inspector General (OIG).  Mr. Hines has served in this position since June, 2015.  As AIGI, he leads OIG’s national operations to investigate allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, and criminal activity in SBA programs.  Mr. Hines has served as a federal agent for 24 years and has been stationed in New Orleans, LA, Saint Paul, MN, and Washington, D.C.  He was appointed as a U.S. Postal Inspector in 1994, rising to the rank of Team Leader.  Subsequently, Mr. Hines served as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Deputy Special Agent in Charge, and Special Agent in Charge during appointments with U.S. Postal Service OIG and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development OIG.

Mr. Hines graduated from the American University in Washington, D.C., with a B.A. in Justice.  Mr. Hines subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Forensic Science from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
