PARTICIPANT SELECTION BEGINS FOR
EMERGING LEADERSHIP (e200) TRAINING
TRAINING INSTRUCTOR ANNOUNCED
Sioux Falls - The South Dakota District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration has announced it is beginning the selection process of those interested in participating in the 2012 e200/Emerging Leaders executive-level training initiative. This training will begin at the end of April in Rapid City and is limited to17 companies. The companies selected for this advanced training will be enrolled at NO COST. The application deadline is March 16th.
This training is designed specifically for small business owners who want to grow their business. It will give them the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience through a combination of academically-developed curriculum and practical tips based on “real-life” business experiences. The 13 sessions – scheduled for every other week – include approximately 100 hours of classroom time per participant and provides the opportunity for small business owners to work with experienced mentors, attend workshops and develop connections with their peers, city leaders and financial communities.
“This is a rare and unique chance for companies to move to the next level,” said SBA District Director John L. Brown II. “We have wanted to bring this training to South Dakota small businesses for several years and only now is it available. The fact that this advanced, proprietary curriculum is being offered here at no cost to selectees is a tremendous opportunity. Normally this type of executive leadership training runs from $3,000 - $5,000 per participant.”
Kim Tilsen-Brave Heart, an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Tribe and the owner of Painted Skye Consulting for the past five years, has been named the instructor for the training. Tilsen-Brave Heart is a financial literacy instructor for Fannie Mae Native program and has trained other trainers on that program. She was selected as a participant of the Bush Foundations Native Nation Rebuilders Fellowship Program and has also trained in First People’s Fund. Tilsen-Brave Heart is the co-founder of the South Dakota Indian Business Alliance and serves as President of the Pine Ridge Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We are glad to bring on an experienced trainer such as Kim for our e200 instructor. Combined with the advanced, copyrighted curriculum, selectees will be very well served. Business owners that have completed the e200/Emerging Leaders training have shown an increase in revenue, have secured more financing for their businesses and have had increased success in government contracting.”
