SBA and Virgin Islands SBDC to Conduct 5th Annual Government Contracting Matchmaking Events
CHRISTIANSTED, U.S. Virgin Islands - The U.S. Small Business Administration and the University of the Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center have teamed-up once again to host their Annual Government Contracting Matchmaking Events in St. Croix on July 25 and in St. Thomas on July 26, each starting at 8:00 AM.
“Over the past five years we’ve forged a network of procurement specialists that have brought the importance and impact of contracting opportunities to our community,” SBA Senior Area Manager Carl Christensen. “This year, our Matchmaking Event has expanded to include a new bonding source, in addition to one-on-one-sessions with procurement officers from both federal and local government agencies.”
Aimed at matching small firms with prospective federal and state purchasers, the Virgin Islands Matchmaking Events will include sessions with the SBA, the U.S National Park Service, the Virgin Islands Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority, and the Virgin Islands Department of Property and Procurement. Attendees will also hear presentations from Tia & Associates, Freedom Bonding and Connect Space.
The Fifth Annual Government Contracting Matchmaking Events will be held at the University of the Virgin Islands Great Hall in St. Croix on Thursday, July 25 and at the UVI Small Business Development Center, 8000 Nisky Center Suite 720, in St. Thomas on Friday, July 26. Both events will be conducted from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. To register free of charge and for more information, please call (340) 692-5270 or (340) 718-5381 in St. Croix and (340) 776-3206 in St. Thomas.
The federal government is the world’s largest buyer of goods and services, with over $400 billion in purchases every year. Matchmaking Events provide an ideal venue for small business owners to meet face-to-face with purchasing representatives and contracting officers, and learn how they can get a piece of the federal contracting pie.
