SBA Michigan Deputy District Director Honored by the Michigan Chronicle
DETROIT – SBA Deputy District Director Constance Payne-Logan will be honored as one of Michigan Chronicle’s “Women of Excellence” at the Induction Ceremony on March 28, 2014 at the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel, 1777 Third Street, Detroit, MI 48226. The Michigan Chronicle “Women of Excellence” awards celebrate local African-American women who motivate and inspire others through their vision and leadership, exceptional achievements, and participation in community service.
“We are thrilled that Constance has been selected by the local community to receive such a prestigious award,” said Gerald Moore, SBA District Director. Prior to her appointment as Deputy District Director, she led the 8(a) business development and HUBZone certification programs in the Michigan District Office. Payne-Logan has served as a member of the executive staff leading many key small business initiatives focusing on markets designated as underserved and economically distressed. She successfully implemented and directed SBA’s Empowerment Zone initiative known as the One Stop Capital Shop of Detroit. For three consecutive years, she provided leadership for the agency’s Emerging Leader’s program.
Payne-Logan has been twice recognized as the SBA Michigan District Office federal employee of the year by the Federal Executive Board. She has been recognized by the International Black Expo as “Government Representative of the Year”; is a recipient of the Spirit of Detroit Award; and she received the 2010 Government Small Business Advocate Award from the Society of American Military Engineers.
Special guest speaker Donna Brazile, Democratic National Committee Vice-Chair will provide the keynote address. Many notable civic and business leaders in Southeast Michigan are expected to attend.
