SBA Presentation on $2.5 Million Growth Accelerator Fund Contest at Boise State University
WASHINGTON – A presentation on the U.S. Small Business Administration’s accelerator fund initiative contest will be held July 16 in Boise, Idaho. SBA officials will give advice on how accelerators and other entrepreneurial ecosystem models can compete for one of 50 awards each totaling $50,000.
Those attending will also get an overview of other helpful federal resources available to entrepreneurs. The event is being put on with the help of partners at the Global Accelerator Network (GAN).
There will also be remarks by Boise Mayor, David Bieter, Javier Saade, SBA’s Associate Administrator in the Office of Investment and Innovation, and other members of local government.
The discussion of government resources will be followed by a series of Demo Day style pitches from accelerators and an opportunity for all attendees to network.
To award the prizes for the Growth Accelerator Fund Contest, an expert panel of judges will consider each applicant’s stated mission, founding team members and business goals among other core components. The deadline for applying is August 2, 2014. Prizes will be awarded in mid-September.
All accelerators and incubators are encouraged to apply. Accelerators which are run by and support women or other underrepresented groups or are focused on manufacturing will receive extra consideration.
For the purposes of this competition, growth accelerators include accelerators, incubators, co-working startup communities, shared tinker-spaces or other models to accomplish similar goals.
