June 3rd event introduces Advantage Contracting, Inc. as title holder

PHILADELPHIA, PA – U.S. SBA Regional Administrator Natalia Olson-Urtecho and SBA Philadelphia District Director David Dickson will officially introduce Eastern Pennsylvania Minority Small Business of the Year with Billy O. Cromedy, president of Philadelphia company Advantage Contracting, Inc. on June 3rd at 3:30 p.m. The event will be open to the media.

“This will be a great event to honor the achievements of our leaders within the Eastern Pennsylvania small business community,” said Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Natalia Olson-Urtecho. “Minority-owned businesses are some of the fastest growing segments of small businesses and the SBA is able to play an instrumental role in helping them start and succeed.” 

Advantage Contracting, Inc., Billy O. Cromedy, President, Philadelphia, Penn. is a fully insured and bonded HVAC/sheet metal contractor. The company specializes in the fabrication and installation of sheet metal ductwork primarily used for heating, ventilation and air conditioning in various commercial and industrial applications and provides HVAC equipment for both large and small project needs. Advantage Contracting, which employs 20 people in February became an 8(a) certified small business. 

SBA’s nine-year 8(a) Business Development Program socially and economically disadvantaged helps firms develop and grow their businesses through one-to-one counseling, training workshops and management and technical guidance. The program also provides access to government contracting opportunities, allowing them to become solid competitors in the federal marketplace. 

SBA’s Eastern Pennsylvania Minority Small Business of the Year award winner is selected annually from among nominees located across Pennsylvania’s eastern 40 counties. These events are local observances of the annual Presidentially-designated National Small Business Week, which will be held this year June 17-21. National Small Business Week recognizes the small business community’s contribution to the American economy. 

Philadelphia’s NBC10 anchor and consumer reporter Tracy Davidson will present the awards with SBA’s Philadelphia District Director, David Dickson at the annual “SBA Day at the Ballpark” event on June 5. The awards ceremony begins at 10 a.m. with a luncheon at “Chickie’s & Pete’s” restaurant at 1526 Packer Ave. followed by a 1:05 p.m. Phillies game at nearby Citizens Bank Park. The event is open to the media. This event is co-sponsored by Constant Contact and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
