SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
SOUTH DAKOTA DISTRICT OFFICE ANNOUNCES
2012 LENDER AWARD WINNERS
Sioux Falls – The South Dakota Small Business Administration District Office has announced their 2012 Lender Award recipients in recognition of the performance, commitment and support provided to small businesses in South Dakota. One credit union and three banks were honored for their outstanding achievements in helping small businesses with their financing needs.
Black Hills Federal Credit Union was the recipient of the District Director’s Leadership Award. This award is presented to the number one volume SBA 7(a) lender in South Dakota. With its head office in Rapid City and branch offices in Custer, Cheyenne River, Hot Springs, Spearfish, Wall and six locations in Rapid City, Black Hills Federal Credit Union originated 23 loans totaling $1.8 million in Fiscal Year 2012.
Black Hills Federal Credit Union was also recognized as the 2012 Impact Lender of the Year. This award recognizes a lender who has established a track record of lending to underserved markets, helping to create jobs or businesses and/or resulting in significant economic development in a community. BHFCU’s lending to women- and veteran-owned small businesses in 2012 were notable standouts.
“Black Hills Federal Credit Union has been recognized as our top SBA 7(a) lender two of the past three years and continues to serve small businesses in South Dakota well. We applaud all our lending partners in the state for the great work they do to support entrepreneurship,” said John L. Brown, District Director of the South Dakota District Office.
Three lenders were selected by SBA for the Leadership Circle for 2012. These lenders represent the top tier of SBA lenders in South Dakota. 2012 Leadership Circle Awards were presented to First Interstate Bank, Great Western Bank and Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.
Also presented 2012 Breakthrough Lender Awards were First State Bank of Roscoe, who had the largest increase in 7(a) dollar volume, and Plains Commerce Bank with the largest increase in 7(a) loan volume.
