St. Johnsbury business wins $4,000
MONTPELIER, Vt. – A small business in St. Johnsbury, Vt. was awarded $4,000 May 16 for a video it filmed highlighting its exporting capabilities.
Mobile Medical International Corporation took fourth place in the 2013 SBA-Visa Export Video Contest. The annual cosponsored event between the Small Business Administration and Visa highlights the advantages of exporting and increases awareness about government assistance available to exporters.
MMIC designs mobile medical facilities for commercial, military and international medical responses.
According to MMIC, it has a diverse international customer base including royal families, humanitarian organizations and military groups.
The contest awards the top five videos. Bassetts Ice Cream, located in Philadelphia, took first place; Rekluse, located in Boise, Idaho, took second place; Premier Choice Inc., DBA Perfect Bite, located in San Jose, Calif., took third place; and CID Bio-Science, located in Camas, Wash., took fifth place.
“The stories told by these five companies in their winning videos are powerful evidence that with their ingenuity, risk-taking and hard work, small businesses are big engines of the U.S. economy and exporting can be, and in their case is, a profitable, rewarding path to success,” said Marie Johns, SBA Deputy Administrator. “We are pleased of our joint efforts with Visa, Inc., to encourage and reward the success of these exporting companies.”
Videos were judged on message, uniqueness, lessons learned, use of government programs and quality.
