Stan Nakano is the Acting Regional Administrator for Region VIII and the Utah District Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration. SBA Region VIII, headquartered in Denver Colorado, includes SBA District Offices in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
All SBA Districts work closely with our lending partners including banks, certified development companies, and credit unions, each one helping SBA meet the credit needs of small businesses throughout the Region.
Each SBA District provides funding support to Small Business Development Centers, SCORE chapters, and several Districts support a Women’s Business Center within their areas. These organizations provide outstanding counseling and training for new and existing entrepreneurs.
Additionally, each District plays a significant role by helping small businesses obtain contracts through the federal procurement system. Under SBA’s 8(a) and HUBZone programs, small businesses in Region VIII are approved for federal contracts totaling hundreds of millions of dollars each fiscal year.
Nakano, who has over 30 years experience working with SBA and in banking, is most proud of the great number of businesses the SBA has been able to assist including underserved businesses owned by women and minorities as well as veteran owned businesses and international trade clients exporting goods and services around the world.
We highly encourage and recommend small businesses throughout the six states that comprise Region VIII take full advantage of the programs and services offered by the SBA.
