Will Work To Support Small Businesses in Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii and Nevada

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) today announced the appointment of Donna Davis as Regional Administrator for Region IX, which encompasses Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, and Nevada.

Davis has over three decades of experience in working with small businesses and corporations, as well as public service with governments at the city, state and federal levels.  She served most recently as the President and CEO of DIR Group, Inc., a business and advocacy consulting firm.  Before that, she was the CEO of the Arizona Small Business Association (ASBA).

“Donna is the kind of leader who will help small business owners and entrepreneurs succeed and thrive,” said Acting SBA Administrator Jeanne Hulit.  “She brings a wealth of experience to the SBA and the know-how we need to support small businesses in states across the country. We’re thrilled to have her on board as Regional Administrator of SBA’s Region IX, and I look forward to working with her on our important mission of helping small businesses succeed.”

Davis also served as President, CEO and Founder of a portfolio of companies with involvement in domestic and global event management and an international speakers’ bureau.  Before that, she worked for twelve years in the microcomputer industry.  Earlier in her career, she was a Park Ranger at Grand Canyon National Park.

“It’s an honor to join the Small Business Administration in this capacity,” said Davis.  “Throughout my career I’ve seen how critical small businesses are as the engine of our economy, and the SBA provides critical resources and support to small business owners and those looking to start a business.  I’m excited to have this opportunity to serve as Regional Administrator for Regional IX as we work to help more American entrepreneurs and small business owners achieve their dreams.”

Davis has served on the boards of the American Indian Chamber of Commerce-AZ, the National Small Business Association, Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Association of Women Business Owners, and Women Impacting Public Policy and is a Leadership America inductee.  She is a graduate of Northern Arizona University and completed a Harvard Business School Executive Program.

As Region IX Administrator, Davis oversees SBA operations in Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, and Nevada.  She started at the end of December.
