Utah District Office Awards

To be nominated and receive one of the following local awards, the small business nominee must fit within the category of the award, demonstrate success in business and complete and submit the required nomination package information. Incomplete packages will not be accepted.

After you read through the categories below, you can read the general guidelines and submit your nomination.

Rural Business of the Year

A small business located in rural Utah. To be considered, the business must have received SBA assistance, own 51% of the company, and been in business for at least three years. To meet the 51% ownership rule, multiple owners can be nominated for the same award. Background Form 3300 will need to be filled out for each owner being nominated.  A good candidate has a successful track record, shows resiliency throughout their business, and is committed to strengthening their local community.  

Minority-owned Business of the Year

A business that is at least 51% minority owned. To be considered, the business must have received SBA assistance, own 51% of the company, and been in business for at least three years. To meet the 51% ownership rule, multiple minority owners can be nominated for the same award. Background Form 3300 will need to be filled out for each owner being nominated. A good candidate has a successful track record, shows resiliency throughout their business, and is committed to strengthening their community.

Veteran-owned Business of the Year

A business that is at least 51% veteran-owned by one or by multiple veterans. To be considered, the business must have received SBA assistance, own 51% of the company, and been in business for at least three years. To meet the 51% ownership rule, multiple veteran owners can be nominated for the same award. Background Form 3300 will need to be filled out for each owner being nominated. A good candidate has a successful track record, shows resiliency throughout their business, and is committed to strengthening the veteran community.

Women-owned Business of the Year

A business that is at least 51% women-owned by one or by multiple women. To be considered, the business must have received SBA assistance, own 51% of the company, and been in business for at least three years. To meet the 51% ownership rule, multiple woman owners can be nominated for the same award. Background Form 3300 will need to be filled out for each owner being nominated. A good candidate has a successful track record, shows resiliency throughout their business, and is committed to strengthening their community.  

SBA will make the above referenced awards to eligible small businesses at the Utah District level only. Awards for Small Business Person of the Year and Exporter of the Year will be forwarded for National competition.
