Are you thinking about launching a small business? Not sure what is involved? Unsure if you have a viable business idea? Join this introductory presentation to break down the nuts and bolts of what is needed to start a business.
Attendees will be able to:
- Recognize steps to starting a business
- Utilize a business concept analysis to understand the viability of their business concept
- Understand differing legal structures
- Learn how to decide if starting a business is right for you!

Presenter: Gregory Maughan
Gregory Maughan is a Temple SBDC Consultant and Fox School of Business Adjunct Faculty member. Gregory has over 20 years of small business ownership experience in arts & entertainment, hospitality, and consulting. He has worked in his businesses as both a day-to-day operator and passive owner. With the SBDC Gregory provides consulting to pre-venture, start-up, and continuing businesses in a variety of areas including business formation, market research, financial modeling, pricing, and strategic planning. In addition, he advises clients in areas where he holds specific certifications: process improvement (Six Sigma Black Belt), and human resources (SHRM-SCP).
Outside of his work life, Gregory currently serves on the boards of Candlelight Theatre and Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania - and has previously served on the boards of Leadership Philadelphia, Church of the Holy Trinity, Detroit Creativity Project, and Young America PAC.
Gregory earned his BA and Master of Public Administration degrees at the University of Pennsylvania.
