CONCORD – Continuing her efforts to support job-creating businesses that drive New Hampshire’s economy, Governor Maggie Hassan today announced that a New Hampshire Finance Fair will be held on May 28 at Southern New Hampshire University to help introduce lending organizations and financing partners to Granite State businesses looking to expand. “To keep our economy moving forward, we must continue to be responsive to the needs of job-creating businesses,” Governor Hassan said. “Our businesses have told me that they need better access to capital investment and support from financial partners to grow and hire, and this finance fair will help introduce lending organizations and financing partners to businesses, large and small, who are striving to expand.” Sponsored by the Department of Resources and Economic Development’s Division of Economic Development, the New Hampshire Bankers Association (NHBA) and the Small Business Administration (SBA), the New Hampshire Finance Fair will connect business owners, entrepreneurs and start-up companies with dozens of lenders and financial services providers. More than 30 representatives of banks, credit unions and financial services agencies will be available to talk about loan programs, financing options and other ways to help businesses grow and expand in the improving economy. The finance fair is free and open to businesses of all sizes, as well as entrepreneurs and start-ups. The finance fair also includes two seminars, one on creative financing options and one on securing investments from potential lenders and investors. “New Hampshire has a well-earned reputation for being business-friendly and this is another way to demonstrate that point,” said Commissioner Jeffrey Rose of the Department of Resources and Economic Development. “As our economy continues to grow, we want our businesses to grow with it. The finance fair connects them with the resources that can help them reach their goals, all in one place, in one afternoon.” Participants can also receive free technical assistance for developing their business plans and loan proposals, as well as accounting and legal guidance. “This is the perfect opportunity for small business owners, and those who are interested in starting their own business, to talk directly with lenders regarding their business-financing needs,” said Amy Bassett, SBA Deputy District Director for New Hampshire. Organizers say that they expect the finance fair to help businesses energize their plans to grow. “The New Hampshire Bankers Association is pleased to be a sponsor of this event, which we expect will have clear and long-lasting benefits for the small business community and our state’s economy,” said Christiana Thornton, president of the NHBA. The New Hampshire Finance Fair will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., May 28 at the Hospitality Center at Southern New Hampshire University, 2500 River Rd., Manchester.
