We are pleased to welcome you to a HYBRID Strong Coffee Strong Women event! The event will be both in-person at Advanced Manufacturing Innovation & Integration Center (AMIIC) as well as broadcast live via Zoom.

This month we will be joined by Dr. Patricia Sims, President of Drake State Community and Technical College.

We will open at 8:00 AM CT for the in-person event; the Zoom room will open at 8:30 AM CT with the program starting at 8:45 AM CT. This event will be broadcast live. The Zoom link will be emailed to all attendees prior to the event.

At Strong Coffee Strong Women, a successful woman shares her shot of inspiration, or “Espresso-monial.” If you are interested in connecting with other inventive, inspired, resourceful, and highly productive business owners and industry/government experts, this event is a must-attend.

Why you should attend:

On December 1, 2018, Dr. Patricia G. Sims began her tenure as President of Drake State Community and Technical College. She is the fourth President in the institution’s sixty-year history. Dr. Sims leads Drake State with a spirit of excellence and brings to the institution an in-depth of knowledge of higher education and administration, and an unbridled enthusiasm for student success.

Dr. Sims has led the charge for Drake State to expand partnerships with businesses and industry, to create new opportunities and pathways for students, and worked to increase resources to support student achievement. Under Dr. Sims’ leadership, Drake State has seen a significant increase in state and federal funding, has increased enrollment, and expanded its program offerings.

Dr. Sims has been recognized for her work locally and across the state. In 2021, she was recognized by Yellowhammer as a Woman of Impact in the state of Alabama and named by the Alabama Media Group as a member of the 2019 Class of Women Who Shape the State of Alabama. Dr. Sims is also a recipient of the 2019 Huntsville Progressive Alumni Chapter of Alabama Agriculture and Mechanical University’s Outstanding Alumni Award.

She and her husband, Themika, are the proud parents of a daughter, Kirsten.

A few key takeaways from the event include:

  • Learn from an “Espresso-monial”: A shot of inspiration from a local business leader who shares her 15 - 20-minute story of how she launched her business, overcame a challenge, or how she climbed the corporate ladder to where she is today
  • Network with other inspired, resourceful, and highly-productive business owners and industry/government experts in an Informal, Casual, “Fireside” feel

So, join us and brew some new ideas for your business and sweeten your network.

This HYBRID event will be in-person as well as via Zoom.

You will receive a reminder email with the Zoom meeting information on the day of the event. Slides and recordings will only be sent out to those in attendance.
