CHICAGO – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s updated numbers for the second round of the Paycheck Protection Program funding as of May 1 indicates the Great Lakes Region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin, has supported nearly 308,000 small businesses and non-profits with a total of $22.8 billion in approved PPP loans.

“The SBA is committed to ensuring the Paycheck Protection Program funding is going to small businesses via a fast and fair process. In part of that effort, from 4 to 11:59 p.m. EDT today, SBA’s PPP loan processing system is only open to lending institutions with less than $1 billion in assets. Additional steps we’ve taken are to pace applications so all lenders submit at the same rate per hour and eliminate lenders’ ability to use robotic processing automation, which mimics human data entry.

ATLANTA – The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to Michigan small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza announced today. SBA acted under its own authority, as provided by the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act that was recently signed by the President, to declare a disaster following a request received from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on March 17, 2020.
