SAN JUAN, PR – The U.S. Small Business Administration approved (SBA) approved 439 loans for $78.2 million to small businesses in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands during fiscal year 2019, a 35 and 28 percent increase, respectively, over the previous year.  Of the total loans approved, 189 for $39 million were for small businesses in rural areas.

The PCR and VBDO are hosting this seminar in an effort to help VOSBs understand federal government requirements.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration today issued a direct final rule that will allow governors to petition the SBA Administrator to designate Historically Underutilized Business Zone status to certain rural and suburban areas. These areas are determined by the Census Bureau and defined as those with a population of 50,000 or less and for which the average unemployment rate is at least 120% of the average unemployment rate.

SAN JUAN – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy published its Establishment Dynamics Report for 2018 which provides an assessment of employment dynamics in the United States, starting with the latest U.S. Census economic data available concerning the number and employment of small and large enterprises, establishments, and firms.
