ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) New Mexico District Office announced the 18 New Mexico business executives selected for the 2017 SBA Emerging Leaders – Albuquerque Program at a kick-off ceremony on March 29, 2017 at WESST Enterprise Center.   Selection for the program recognizes these 18 business executives as leaders of companies that are poised for growth with the potential to emerge as self-sustaining businesses that create jobs and build communities.

SBA Emerging Leaders is a seven-month, 100-hour, executive education course.  Instructor Marvis Aragon and fellow local mentors in the fields of accounting, finance and government contracting, guide participants to access new avenues of capital, new paths for business development and new connections to government resources and local business leaders.  SBA offers the program in 51 cities nationwide.  Since its inception in 2008, nationally, Emerging Leaders graduates have created nearly 2,000 new full-time jobs, secured over $1 Billion in federal, state, local and tribal contracts and accessed over $73 Million in new financing.

Joshua Baca, SBA NM Business Opportunity Specialist and Emerging Leaders Project Manager further explains the program’s value, “The SBA Emerging Leaders program uses a proven curriculum that allows participants to develop a Strategic Growth Action Plan for their company, which propels their company’s growth leading to higher revenues and the hiring of more employees.”

2013 Emerging Leaders graduate Monica Jojola, owner of Montech Inc., inspired the incoming class with her success story.  “We built a strategy using this Emerging Leaders program that really helped us separate ourselves from the competition,” said Jojola. “In the past two years, we’ve grown from five employees to a team of 41, including subcontractors.  Today, Montech is one of the top 25 Native American owned companies in the state.”
