ALBUQUERQUE, NM - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) New Mexico District Office announces the 15 small businesses, champions and lenders named 2017 SBA New Mexico Small Business Week Award Winners.  SBA recognizes these small business honorees for their extraordinary contributions to strengthening our state’s economy and creating jobs.  All 15 winners will be recognized at a breakfast awards ceremony at Sandia Golf Club in Albuquerque, NM on May 4, 2017 at 7:30am, hosted by the SBA, the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and the New Mexico Small Business Development Center Network. Additionally, Mario and David Burgos of Burgos Group, LLC and the 2017 New Mexico Small Business Persons of the Year, will represent New Mexico in Washington, D.C. at the National SBA Small Business Week Awards Ceremony on May 1.

“With over 152,500 small businesses, employing over 95% of New Mexico’s private workforce, small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” said SBA New Mexico District Director John M. Garcia.  “Small Business Week is a time to celebrate our state’s entrepreneurial spirit and thank our small business community for their hard work and dedication.  The SBA invites you to join us for our annual awards ceremony and also invites communities across the state to participate by recognizing small businesses during Small Business Week.”

Each year since 1963, the President has issued a proclamation calling for the celebration of National Small Business Week.  National Small Business Week is set as the first week in May, and this year the dates are April 30-May 6, with local celebrations and events hosted by SBA throughout the country to honor outstanding small business owners, champions and lenders.
