“It’s wonderful to have the privilege to recognize the achievements of leading minority-owned Pennsylvania small businesses like Hopson's Consultant Services, Inc.,” said Antonio (Tony) Leta, U.S. SBA Eastern Pennsylvania Director. “Small businesses like the one Damon and Shanea’ have built are what drives our nation’s economy and creates jobs. SBA and our lending partners are proud to play a role in helping them start and succeed.”

Hopson's Consultant Services, Inc. (HCS Inc.) is a professional contract cleaning service company founded in 1999 providing janitorial services and building maintenance. After being involved in the industry for a number of years, Damon Hopson’s vision was to start his own cleaning business. The company produces and provides the following products and services: general office cleaning, carpet cleaning, complete floor care as well as a number of their specialty services.

Currently in a growth stage, the firm is dedicated to being a “one-stop cleaning company” for its customers. HCS Inc. is more than just a janitorial service. Hopson's Consultant Services, Inc. is currently at work in homes and businesses throughout Philadelphia, Delaware and Montgomery counties and has grown 25% by expanding its territory to areas within the surrounding Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware areas. By following a new growth plan, HCS Inc. has been able to reduce debt and maintain a higher profit margin increasing net profit and net worth. The firm has also been able to make additional hires, bringing the total of employees to 49. The firm is dedicated to offering consistently dependable quality not only for the first few months – but for the duration of the assignment.

In addition to running the firm, Damon Hopson serves as an Executive Board Member at The Eastern Delaware County YMCA of PA and helped raised over $50,000 to help support underprivileged kids go to camp for free or at minimal cost. Damon also serves as a Board Member for the Youth Mentoring Partnership program. He holds an Associate Degree in Business from Peirce College.

“More than dollars and cents, we are interested in forming stable partnerships with reputable companies. We are committed to enhancing our client company's professional image to the public,” Damon Hopson said. Although it’s not all about dollars and cents, Hopson knows how important access to capital is. “We have faced financial crisis. Banks were not lending money to small businesses, so we didn’t have a line of credit. It was very hard and frustrating; we didn’t know if we were going to remain in business. When clients were more than 90 days past due on their invoices, we learned how to manage what little money that we did have and an SBA loan in 2007 helped bridge the gap when we were worried about running short on payroll.”
