CONNECTICUT - The U.S. Small Business Administration's Connecticut District Office celebrated its Small Business Week Awards Ceremony today at Gateway Community College in New Haven, CT.  Eleven outstanding Small Business owners and advocates were recognized today by SBA District Director Anne Hunt alongside Regional VP of SCORE Mark Cutler.
To recognize the enormous contributions of these businesses, each year the Small Business Administration (SBA) hosts National Small Business Week. It is an opportunity to pause and to pay tribute to the men and women who are starting and growing companies that are transforming their industries.
The 2017 Small Business Week award winners in Connecticut come from a wide range of industries – everything from a company that manufactures private label stain removing products to a disaster recovery firm. No matter what industry they come from, or what business model they pursue, these companies, and thousands like them, are making crucially important contributions to our local communities and our economy.
The winners highlighted today were the following:

•    Small Business Person of the Year, Carla Bartolucci of Euro-USA Trading / Jovial Foods
•    Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Ashley Stone of Beauty Entourage
•    Home-Based Business, Mary Goehring of  Transcription Plus
•    DECD & SBA Entrepreneurs of the Year, Camilla Gazal & Flavia Naslausky of Zaniac Greenwich

Small Business Week is an opportunity to showcase some of the best small businesses in the country. And at the SBA, we are committed to making sure that all small businesses have the tools, resources and relationships they need to grow and to hire more workers. 2016 was a record year for the SBA. We supported more than $284 million in lending to more than 700 small businesses statewide.  We urge you to visit our local SBA office or go to sba.gov/ct to learn more about the events we have going on during all of Small Business Week as well as to learn about the services we provide alongside our resource partners SCORE, SBDC, WBC and VBOC.
