Fargo, ND - Eric Mauch and Carla Schwartzenberger, owners of Razor Consulting Solutions, Inc., have been named the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) 2017 North Dakota Small Business Persons of the Year. This annual award recognizes exceptional small business owners who demonstrate the entrepreneurial spirit in starting and growing a successful business. Award recipients from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam, were honored during National Small Business Week, May 1 - 5, in Washington, DC.

Founded in 2010 by Mauch and Schwartzenberger, Razor Consulting Solutions, Inc. offers custom software development as well as professional services. Services include project management, accounting, financial and business intelligence services, and technical product and customer support.  Its customers range from small community businesses to global organizations in multiple industries, including government.

Headquartered in Watford City, with the majority of its operations in Fargo, their company has grown quickly, in both employees and revenue.  Inc. magazine named Razor Consulting the fastest growing private company in North Dakota in 2016. The Inc. 5000 list ranks the nation’s top 5,000 fastest-growing private companies according to percentage revenue growth over a four-year period. Razor Consulting employs over 50 people. Mauch and Schwartzenberger state that over 75 percent of their employees live and work in North Dakota while serving customers across the globe.

Mauch and Schwartzenberger accessed services from the SBA and the North Dakota Impact Procurement Technical Assistance Center to further diversify the company's client base and to help establish a presence in the government contracting arena. Razor Consulting is also a 2016 graduate of the SBA's Emerging Leaders Program. Despite industry changes and economic challenges, Razor Consulting has been able to maintain a large majority of its valued employee base.

With the goal of providing more jobs to their communities, Mauch and Schwartzenberger also started Razor Tracking, a growing fleet tracking company and also have other companies in the works. Both regularly volunteer their time and talents to their communities – Mauch with the FM YMCA Gator swim team and Schwartzenberger with Watford City Boy Scout Troup 382 - as well as various employee-driven charitable initiatives.
