SANTA ANA, Calif.  - The U.S. Small Business Administration’s flagship 7(a) and 504 loan programs have already placed more than $1.1 billion into the hands of entrepreneurs across the Orange County and Inland Empire region during the first three quarters of Fiscal Year 2017.  Across 68 SBA district offices, the Orange County / Inland Empire District ranks fourth in lending dollars following Los Angeles, South Florida, and Georgia.

“As the SBA begins its 65th year this week as the federal agency that advocates for small businesses, it’s perfect timing to share very positive lending data,” said J. Adalberto Quijada, Director of the Orange County / Inland Empire District Office.  “Our national ranking is a confirmation that our office has built strong working relationships with the region’s lending community.”

Total lending dollars are up 15 percent over the same time last year (Oct. 1- June 30).  The 504 loan program has seen a significant increase this year with 210 loans totaling $204 million delivered in comparison to 192 loans at $180 million this same time last year.

Included in the $1.1 billion figure are more than $141 million in SBA-backed loans to woman-owned small businesses (more than a 33 percent increase over last year) and more than $19 million in loans allocated to the region’s underserved communities within the Orange County-Inland Empire area.

The SBA provides a loan guaranty to banks and other lenders in order to increase access to capital for small business owners.  The top three lenders in the Orange County Inland Empire District year to date are: Wells Fargo Bank with 226 loans totaling $91,361,800;     U.S. Bank with 102 loans for $40,603,300; and JP Morgan Chase Bank with 100 loans totaling $26,405,400.
