EASTERN Pa.– Do you know a small business owner with an amazing success story to tell? If so, submit your nomination today for the 2018 National Small Business Week Awards. Nominations are currently being accepted by mail and in-person at SBA’s Philadelphia District Office, Parkview Tower, 1150 1st Ave., Ste. 1001, King of Prussia, PA 19460. All nominations must be postmarked or hand delivered to SBA no later than 3 p.m. ET on January 9, 2018.

For more than 50 years, SBA has recognized the outstanding achievements of America’s small businesses for their contributions in their local communities and our nation’s economy. These events are local observances of the annual Presidentially-designated National Small Business Week to recognize the small business community’s contribution to the American economy. Last year’s Eastern Pennsylvania District winners and nominators were recognized at the annual Small Business Week Awards dinner and networking event.

Last year’s SBA Eastern Pennsylvania District Small Business Person of the Year, Elvin Stoltzfus, president of Pik Rite, Inc. was nominated by Steven Stumbris, Director, Bucknell University Small Business Development Center. Pik Rite, Inc. is a designer and manufacturer of innovative, quality-built vegetable harvesters, agricultural manure spreaders, commercial waste handling and specialized vacuum tanks, dump bodies and debris collectors. Stoltzfus and a friend built the first Pik Rite tomato harvester, a project largely driven by his involvement in hand-harvesting tomatoes. Today, Pik Rite’s equipment is used domestically and has been exported to 26 countries.

“Small businesses like Pik Rite, Inc. are the engines that drive our nation’s economy. SBA and our resource partners, like Bucknell University Small Business Development Center, are proud to play a role in helping entrepreneurs start and succeed,” said Antonio (Tony) Leta, U.S. SBA Eastern Pennsylvania Director.

If you know a small business that deserves recognition, nominations are being accepted now for National and Eastern Pennsylvania District Small Business Awards – small businesses can also nominate themselves.
