SBA Names East Providence’s Miller’s Roast Beef the
2019 Rhode Island Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Small Business of the Year

Providence, RI –The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has named Gwendolyn and Roger Graham, owners of Miller’s Roast Beef, the 2019 Rhode Island Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Small Business. Henry and Ruby Miller opened the first Miller’s Roast Beef in 1972 in East Providence. Eventually, their daughter Ruth took over the business with her husband, Roger Sr. Almost 50 years later the third generation is at the helm, focused on strengthening and growing the brand while looking continuing to provide the quality food they Miller’s has been synonymous with for almost 50 years.

“I would like to congratulate Gwen and Roger on being named the 2019 Rhode Island Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Small Business,” said SBA District Director, Mark S. Hayward. “Growing up in East Providence, Miller’s was a staple and to see Gwen and Roger expand while continuing the excellence that has come before them is remarkable,” he added.

This award is open to any small business that is family-owned and operated, has been in business for a minimum of 15 years, has been passed down from at least one generation to another, and has received SBA assistance.

The Rhode Island “Salute of Small Business” Awards luncheon will be held on May 10, and will honor all of the Rhode Island awardees and their exceptional small business accomplishments.
