SBA Houston Honors Top Small Businesses

HOUSTON – Outstanding business owners are being honored by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) during the 2020 National Small Business Week Awards Ceremony. Although the event is typically slated to take place in May, the Houston District Office is proud to be moving forward with its annual event virtually to honor these exceptional businesses.


“Michelle Mitcham and Amber Humphrey, winners of Small Business of the Year are amazing – two energetic, caring professionals that have created a wonderful business to care for children with a variety of special needs in a laughter-filled, relaxing and safe environment. They are achieving their American Dream. Everyone should tune into the livestream on September 8th at 11:30 to see all of the winners and their inspirational videos - you will love them!”, said SBA District Director Tim Jeffcoat.


This year, a total of 48 nominations were received in ten different categories, including Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year, Minority-Owned Small Business, and Exporter of the Year.


The Houston Small Business Awards Ceremony, sponsored by SCORE Houston, will be held virtually on September 8, 2020 at 11:30 AM. Bob Charlet, Market President and Publisher of the Houston Business Journal will be the Master of Ceremonies. Before the awards, the ceremony will include introductions by Yusef Muhammad, President of the Houston chapter of SCORE and Tim Jeffcoat, District Director of SBA and other special guests. Bob Harvey, President and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership will offer the closing comments.
