COVID-19 relief options and additional resources

A Sim Insight into the future: Immersive workforce development, training, and education

The challenges brought on by the COVID19 pandemic accelerated the integration of technology in the business landscape and saw many businesses quickly adapt to the changing needs of consumers. Rajesh Jha, Founder & CEO of SimInsights Inc. and the 2020 SBA Orange County / Inland Empire SBIR/STTR Grant Recipient of the Year, has been able to adapt, innovate, and leverage the resources available to him to maintain a competitive advantage in the virtual reality (VR) / augmented reality (AR) industry.

SimInsights provides software and services to enable customers in enterprise and higher-ed to transform their training from traditional to immersive (VR/AR) and from static to interactive and personalized. SimInsights’ software enables learning designers and subject matter experts to collaboratively author, publish, and evaluate immersive content without technical expertise in coding or artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML). SimInsights has helped clients in healthcare, manufacturing, defense, and higher-education industries achieve high ROI on an accelerated timeline while substantially reducing cost and risk. Expanding from Jha’s apartment into a 2,000 square foot facility, SimInsights now employs a crew of eight full-time employees with a core team of engineers and designers, who have years of experience producing world-class software for Fortune 500 companies and leading R&D labs. The company is very engineering-driven, and its competitive edge comes from its focus on 3D immersive, interactive, and intelligent simulation. SimInsights donates time in the local community by partnering with local schools, school districts, universities, and companies by hosting interns to give them the inspiration and skills needed to pursue STEM careers and degrees.

Though the COVID19 pandemic hampered SimInsights’ business development activity and rapid growth as the company experienced major dips in revenue, different SBA programs have been able to provide cash flows and working capital to help Rajesh and his team continue their groundbreaking work. Rajesh received the first round of the Paycheck Protection Program, the Covid19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), and has applied for an increase in the EIDL program to secure additional capital and continue his innovative work in the simulation and AI industry.

As SimInsights emerges from R&D mode, it is exploring capital sources including venture capital to further help businesses, schools, and communities across the nation. Going forward, SimInsights looks to scale out and Rajesh feels his company is poised to become one of the most successful companies in our region.
