Jacksonville, FLA. – Hanan Hamed-Furqan, President/CEO of THREEZ Company, LLC. was recently named the 2017 U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) North Florida District and State of Florida Minority-Owned Business Person of the Year. Hamed-Furqan started the business in 2011 and has since grown revenues by over 62%. She has also grown from 2 employees to 8 employees since 2012.

THREEZ Company, LLC is the first African-American owned and operated paper-supply company that offers its own brand of private-label residential and commercial products called “Blissful Paper Products.” The company also is an authorized distributor of over 5,000 janitorial, food service, paper, and safety supplies. Hamed-Furqan has grown the company to do business with the City of Jacksonville, Duval County Public Schools, and Jacksonville Aviation Authority by using competitive pricing models. She provides supplies for over 800 public buildings and 300 schools in the area.

Hamed-Furqan is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Miami and was recognized by the school for serving in multiple leadership roles. She is married and is also the mother of 5 young children. She always had a passion for volunteering and helping others, so in 2004 she worked at the Women’s Center of Jacksonville to tutor women who needed to obtain their GED. In 2008, Hamed-Furqan established a tutoring company through a grant from the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) to provide services in Duval County. She employed 70 tutors and provided services to 1,100 students through 2013. The company was given an Excellent Service Designation through the FDOE for 3 consecutive years. She started THREEZ Company, LLC in an effort to teach her own children how to be entrepreneurial. Hamed-Furqan’s children currently volunteer at the business and help staff members with various tasks.

In 2014, Hamed-Furqan participated in a local training provided by the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce (a strategic alliance partner with the SBA in North Florida) called JaxBridges. As a result of her participation, she was able to secure a $50,000 working capital loan. She also worked with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of North Florida for technical assistance and counseling. She also received financial, marketing, and leadership training through the Jacksonville Women’s Business Center. Hamed-Furqan has continued to grow her skillset, and recently obtained a Supply Chain Management Certificate and will start graduate school shortly.

Hamed-Furqan remains committed to helping others in the community. She offers financial literacy programs for young entrepreneurs through the business and works with local youth groups to create fundraising opportunities. The company also donates some of its overstocked products to local non-profits serving families in need.
