Robert Chavarria is the Senior Area Manager and Veterans Affairs Officer for the U.S. Small Business South Florida District’s Tampa Bay Work Site.
Prior to beginning his career in the federal service, Robert served three years during the Vietnam War era in the U.S. Army Signal Corp in microwave communications. After his military service, he held various positions in the private sector including 15 years as a business manager for Hewlet Packard Co. in Central and South Texas; business course instructor; consumer products and service salesperson; and insurance and annuity products salesperson.
Robert’s federal service includes stints as a contracting officer for the Department of Defense; management advisor, equal opportunity officer, and labor officer for Office of Personnel and Manpower Management. He is a DoD certified Level II Acquisition Professional in Contracting.
Robert joined the U.S. Small Business Administration in 1998 serving as Business Information Center Manager and OSCS Facilitator at the SBA/City of St. Petersburg One Stop Capital Shop. In 2002, he was a marketing executive for both SBA North and South District Offices. A year later, he became the district director for SBA Lower Rio Grande District, Texas.
Robert is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
