Peter Kontakos, Deputy District Director

Peter KontakosPeter Kontakos was appointed Deputy District Director of the Massachusetts SBA Office on September 15, 2019.

Mr. Kontakos holds extensive experience in Federal Government Contracting having served as a Contract Specialist, Procurement Analyst, and Contracts Program Manager at the US Department of Transportation since 2008; and possesses a Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) Level III.

During his tenure at US DOT, Mr. Kontakos also served as the Small Business Specialist responsible for promoting the utilization of 8(a) Business Development, HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, and Women-Owned Small Business Programs for both prime and subcontracting opportunities.  Additionally, Mr. Kontakos collaborated and partnered with the US DOT Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization and US DOT Office of the Senior Procurement Executive to promote small business program advocacy and education to a wide range of local, regional, and national audiences.

Prior to his Federal service, Mr. Kontakos served as Assistant Branch Manager at Eastern Bank supporting an assortment of consumer and commercial lending activities.  Mr. Kontakos received his Bachelor's Degree from Merrimack College having graduated summa cum laude with a double major in Business Administration and Political Science; and obtained his MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst Isenberg School of Management.
