Laketa Henderson, District Director

Laketa L. Henderson is the District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Michigan District Office.  She directs the Michigan District team in implementing the SBA’s strategic goals to strengthen and increase the small business ecosystem, through continued relationship building with a network of organizations, to reach the small business community and those underserved to ensure delivery of needed services. 

Laketa has been with the SBA since August 2011, when she joined the Washington Metropolitan Area District Office (WMADO) as a Business Opportunity Specialist (BOS).  In May 2015 she was promoted to the position of Supervisory BOS. In 2017, she was selected to be the Deputy Director at the San Antonio District Office. In December 2018 she moved to her hometown to become the new Deputy District Director in the Michigan District Office, and in March 2021, she became the District Director. 

Throughout her SBA career Laketa has specialized in government contracting, by working in the 8(a) Business development program. She is passionate about small business and providing them the needed resources to be successful because they are the stabilizing force in our local communities. She believes that SBA is the mechanism that drives the process through our resource partners and partnerships that are increasingly growing a larger network of organizations that collaborate and create a strong ecosystem for all small business to thrive and succeed in.

Prior to joining SBA, Laketa worked in automotive manufacturing with General Motors, Toyota Motors Manufacturing Indiana (TMMI) and Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA), after serving honorably in the United States Army.
