2014 Small Business Week Award Nominations
Any individual, or team of individuals, who own and operate a small business that is defined as "small" under the applicable SBA size standards and has been in business more than three years may be nominated. Nominees must also be residents of the United States or its territories and will be subject to background checks. Small businesses owned and operated by nominees must comply with federal civil rights laws. Self-nominations are accepted.
Small Business Person of the Year: For developing an outstanding, growing business; innovative product(s), increasing jobs, increasing sales, overcoming adversity, and community contributions.
The Montana District Office will be recognizing a Small Business Person in three sub-categories, as well as one overall State Small Business Person of the Year. The overall winner then goes on to compete at the National level. Sub-categories are:
- 1-10 employees
- 11-50 employees
- More than 50 employees (within SBA definition of small business)
Small Business Exporter of the Year: Significantly increased export sales and profits, encouraging other firms to export, increased jobs through exports, and innovative methods of creating markets. This winner will go on to compete at the National level.
Veteran-Owned Small Business: A business that is at least 51% veteran-owned, who has a successful track record and who has fulfilled a commitment to strengthen veteran-owned businesses within the community. This winner is recognized in Montana only.
Women-Owned Small Business: A business that is at least 51% women-owned, who has a successful track record and who has fulfilled a commitment to strengthen woman-owned businesses within the community. This winner is recognized in Montana only.
Please use the following cover sheet and nomination guidelines for your submission, due no later than January 15th.
