Michael P. Arriola, Deputy District Director

Mike Arriola

Mike Arriola was appointed Deputy District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) North Carolina District Office on July 13, 2014.

As Deputy District Director, Arriola supports the District Director in supervising the office’s administrative operations and in carrying out the agency’s mission of providing financial assistance, counseling, and management and technical assistance to small businesses in North Carolina.

Mike has been with the SBA since January 1998, when he joined the Guam Branch Office as a loan specialist and held numerous collateral duties, including Public Information Officer.

In February 2004, Arriola accepted a position with the SBA North Carolina District to open a satellite office in the city of Asheville and was responsible for delivering the agency’s programs and services to small businesses in the 28 westernmost counties of the state.  On July 13, 2014, he was named Deputy District Director.

A business and corporate banker by training, Arriola has worked for various banks, including Chase Manhattan, Bank of Hawaii and HSBC.  He is a 1984 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and a 1992 graduate of the Asian Institute of Management’s Advanced Bank Management Program.  In 2010, Arriola completed his Master’s degree in Public Affairs from Western Carolina University and was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Gamma Mu Honor Societies.
