Alan Haut is the acting District Director for the North Dakota District Office. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing SBA services across North Dakota including access to capital, counseling and training, and government contracting.
Al's SBA career started as a non-paid student intern. Since joining the SBA as a permanent employee in 1989, he has held many positions including Economic Development Specialist, Loan Officer, Lender Relations Specialist and most recently, Deputy District Director. Al's expertise in working with lenders has given him the opportunity to chair a committee on productivity analysis that rewrote position descriptions for lender relations specialists across the country. He has also served as a regional trainer for lender relations staff in Region VIII, which includes Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Utah and Wyoming.
Al holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. His small business roots date back to the early 1900s when his great grandfather started a hardware store in central North Dakota. This business eventually lead to a funeral business that remains in the family today.
As an outdoor enthusiast, Al enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outside with family and friends. His family includes his wife, Missy and son, Adam.
