Robert Holguin is the District Director of the US Small Business Administration, Nevada District. Prior to joining the SBA as Deputy District Director, Mr. Holquin was Director of the Business Services Division for Valley Economic Development Corporation (VEDC), with responsibility for developing and delivering programs to assist entrepreneurs to start, develop, and grow in the greater Los Angeles region. Programs included one-on-one consulting, workshops & training and access to capital.
Holguin has over 11 years experience in small business lending. While at East West Bank he grew small business lending from $18M to over $75M within the first year. He also took the bank from a position of 300 to one of the top 100 banks in the country per SBA ranking nationally.
Holguin also managed one of the largest Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) in the country with over 11 locations, many with low/moderate income census areas and federal empowerment zones. As part of the SBDC program he oversaw the Capital Access Center and was one of the top producing SBA loan packaging intermediaries.
He also has over 20 years private sector experience in technology, manufacturing, retail, and publishing environments. He was also the Director of Business Operations & CIO for Hispanic Business Magazine Inc. and sits on the board of directors of numerous organizations.
Holguin holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix with a concentration in business operations and strategic planning, and is a Vietnam era veteran.
