COVID-19 relief options and additional resources

Doggie Nose Best

After a relationship torn apart by drugs Amanda Schneider knew there had to be others like her, scared and worried that someone they cared about could be using drugs. She wanted an option to clear the thoughts that wouldn’t result in ruining their lives. This is where the ideas for Nosey Dogs came from. To start the first and ONLY private K9 narcotic detection company in Nevada. She did research for about two years, to be sure the idea was possible and that everything she did stayed within legal boundaries.

When starting to set up the business Amanda sought assistance from the Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE).  According to Schneider SCORE was an amazing resource.  She met with many different mentors who have offered a wide variety of advice, help, and direction for starting, managing, and growing our business. Nosey Dogs was chosen as one of Nevada winners of the 2017 American Small Business Champions sponsored by SCORE and Sam’s Club.

Starting the business was not easy, like most entrepreneurs Amanda lacked the necessary funds. Luckily she found the Lender Match tool on the SBA website; she was able to find a lender.

Prestamos CDFI, LLC arranged a SBA 7(a) business loan to fund her startup costs and working capital. Without the help of the SBA, Amanda stated she would not be here today saving lives each and every day.

When asked about other obstacles. The licensing process to start Nosey Dogs Detection Services was definitely the biggest obstacle.

When asked what her goal is: “Our mission is to provide residential and commercial customers with the comfort of knowing that their properties are drug-free.” ~Amanda Schneider
