Kelly A. Hunt Biography
Kelly A. Hunt, of Washington County, Pennsylvania, is serving as the District Director for the Pittsburgh District Office of the Small Business Administration. As District Director, she is responsible for the delivery and leadership of the Agency's financial and business development programs throughout the western 27 counties of Pennsylvania.
Prior to her appointment as District Director, Kelly was employed at California University of Pennsylvania (Cal U). In this capacity, she spearheaded a strategic initiative to improve the overall entrepreneurial culture of the university community, which included the creation of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Center and Student Incubator (ELC). While at Cal U, Kelly also worked in the Office of Sponsored Programs, focusing on the post-award administration of the University's grants and contracts.
Before her time at Cal U, Kelly spent five years as a Development Specialist at Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC). At SPC, she implemented community and economic development initiatives throughout the nine-county region. Her work experience also includes curriculum development and instruction, having taught numerous undergraduate and non-credit courses in leadership, management, and business. She has also presented workshops on topics such as strategic planning, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
As an entrepreneur herself, Kelly has hands-on experience in starting and operating businesses in Pennsylvania. She is also involved in social entrepreneurship initiatives, through which she passionately inspires others to pursue entrepreneurship on a global level.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Kelly served her county as a Security Policeman for more than nine years. While on active duty, Kelly began pursuing her education and obtained a B.S. in Computer Information Systems Management. Shortly thereafter, she went on to complete her M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction. Most recently, Kelly finished the coursework for her doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership and is currently completing her dissertation on Individual Entrepreneurial Orientation.
Kelly has a heart for service and a love for people, which she lives out through her volunteer work. Kelly serves on the leadership team for four local organizations and has traveled internationally to help communities around the world. Although Kelly is a native of Washington County, her time in the Air Force afforded her the opportunity to experience many different cultures. Kelly has been married to her husband (Terry) for 26 years. Together they have three grown children and four granddaughters.
